THE FOUNDER
Bola Marquis is the British-Nigerian Founder and Creative Director of ÒKUN an award-winning, Africa-inspired global beachwear brand. He grew up between Lagos, Nigeria and London, UK and holds a BSC in Chemistry and Management Studies from Imperial College, University of London.
The brand was founded in London in 2012 having left a successful corporate career as a global IT Project Manager at several multinational companies.
ÒKUN represents the distillation of the founder's heritage and pan-African design inspirations, harnessing his creative passions and entrepreneurial drive to create a pioneering and enduring global apparel brand.
THE BRAND
Founded in 2012, ÒKUN launched SS13 at Capsule Paris and the summer following its collection SS14 “Eban”collection at the influential Pitti Uomo menswear tradeshow in Florence securing prestigious accounts; United Arrows Tokyo and Le Bon Marché Paris as stockists that season.
In 2014 the label was the winner of the UK Fashion & Textile network's Rising Brand Award and in 2018 ÒKUN became the first African brand to be stocked by luxury online retailer MRPORTER.COM.
